Food Street has opened at 617 Grand St, bringing fast casual Pakistani street food to Grand Street! The restaurant is a franchise location of the original Food Street in Secaucus, NJ, and its menu is inspired by the street food of Lahore, Pakistan.
Owner Danish, decided to open up Food Street’s newest location after dining at the original location a year ago. Born in the US, with a Pakistani background, he was interested in pursuing a business that connected his two cultures. The food reflects this blend, as the Pakistani-American fusion strays away from traditional cuisine, with a unique spin on both cultures. This is reflected in Danish’s personal favorite the Jalapeño Beef Burger - a spicy Pakistani take on an American classic. The Crispy Chicken Sandwich is another standout on the menu and is a customer favorite.
Though the restaurant has only been open for a short time Danish says the community response has already exceeded expectations. Repeat customers are already showing up, and he’s enjoying the chance to meet new faces. “We didn’t realize we would get this good of a response,” he says.
Food Street is part cafe, part fast casual restaurant. Stop in for a quick bite on your lunch break, or head upstairs where there is plenty of room to settle in for the afternoon with a cup of chai. Danish hopes the spot becomes a place where people feel welcome to linger.
Swing by 617 Grand Street and try out Food Street!
